Lapidary Safety
When cutting lapidary materials, always wear protective equipment and cut in a well-ventilated area. Rocks and minerals contain substances that become health hazards when they are released into the air during the cutting process. Even otherwise inert substances like silica become dangerous when airborne, with the potential to cause silicosis, a serious lung disease.
Always research materials before cutting them to ensure you are aware of their potential health hazards, and take all necessary precautions to protect your health and to ensure your safety.
