Drilled Brass Stingrays
Drilled Brass Stingrays
These brass drops are decoratively drill-dotted and finished with two thin layers of EverBrite to ward off oxidation/tarnish. The wrapped ear wires are solid sterling silver and the drops are jeweler's brass, which is a special alloy developed to most closely resemble the color of 14K gold. Both sides have a vertically brushed finish. The overall shape is inspired by the incredible stingray.
These are fairly large statement earrings and about the weight of a nickel each (medium weight). They are probably best suited for those accustomed to wearing medium to large-sized earrings.
A little more about EverBrite:
EverBrite provides long-lasting protection from oxidation and even UV damage for metals like brass; however, over time areas of the coating will start to wear away. When this happens, you can wipe off breakthrough tarnish with copper cream and apply more anti-tarnish coating (it doesn't have to be EverBrite) to the worn area. EverBrite can also be removed entirely with acetone or by sanding it off.
Materials: sterling silver, jeweler's brass
Weight: approx. 5.3 grams each ~ about the weight of a nickel
Measurements: including the ear wire, these are approx. 3" long; the brass drops themselves are about 2" long x 1.5" wide.
