Balmorhea Metallic Plume Agate Slab
Balmorhea Metallic Plume Agate Slab
This material from the agate fields of Balmorhea Lake in Texas is not only showing the black plume clusters in white and blue agate it's known for; it's also showing a fine frosting of light gold pigmentation across the branching of the plumes! These accents add definition to the plume formations, giving them more of a 3D effect, while at the same time adding the most beautifully delicate shimmer along the edges of the plumes. An incredible piece for metallic/plume agate collectors; it should also cut some killer cabs. Texas produces some of the most beautiful dendritic agates in the world! In the interest of best revealing the plumes, I cut this slightly thinner than 1/4".
This is a rough, unpolished slab. Please observe images closely for flaws, as some degree of that is normal. Pictured wet and dry.
