Butterfly Wing Jasper Slab
Butterfly Wing Jasper Slab
This material comes from the Sierra Madres Mountains of Mexico. It is a classic and beloved brecciated jasper perfectly named for the colorful breccia that resemble clusters of butterfly wings. This slab is showing tons of intricate detail awash in color - an incredibly fine maroon matrix frames passages of teal greens, rose pinks, and tiny flickers of orange, cream, and soft purple, making the resultant shapes look as if they were carefully drawn with a Micron pen. Absolutely incredible! Like many brecciated "jaspers," this is most likely a rhyolite.
This is a rough, unpolished slab. Please observe images closely for flaws, as some degree of that is normal. Pictured wet and dry.
