This petrified palm wood from Louisiana is showing a dense smattering of the characteristic dots the material is known for. These spots are actually cross-cuts of rod-shaped structures within the original wood, which is an extinct genus of palm called Palmoxylon. These pieces are likely to cut rather dark and moody cabs, as the chocolate-brown surface darkens quite a bit when wetted.
These are rough, unpolished slabs, one of which is an end cut. Please observe images closely for flaws, as some degree of that is normal. Pictured wet and dry.
