This material comes from Western Australia and gets its name from the peanut-shaped boreholes that cover it, which were created by clams that ate sections of the wood before it petrified (the boreholes filled with silica to petrify over many millions of years). Luckily for collectors and lapidaries this particular petrification history is not only fascinating but beautiful! A very rare and striking material! There is some iron coloration on the rind.

This is a rough, unpolished, end cut slab. Please observe images closely for flaws, as some degree of that is normal. Pictured wet and dry.
