Though often referred to as a jasper, this material is technically a rhyolite (volcanic rock). The orbs (spherulites) of varying colors were once gas bubbles within the molten lava. Before solidification these pockets were deposited with a variety of colorful minerals (feldspars and quartzes). Sometimes, however, not every cavity was completely filled - notice that this slab has some druzy-lined pockets. A beautiful and unique material from Queensland, Australia.
This is a rough, unpolished slab. Please observe images closely for flaws, as some degree of that is normal. Pictured wet and dry.
