Wild Horse Magnesite Slab
Wild Horse Magnesite Slab
Wild Horse Magnesite, sometimes also called “Appaloosa Stone," is found only in the Gila Wilderness of Southern Arizona. It’s an incredibly striking mix of white magnesite and varying shades of chestnut-colored hematite. Because the matrix looks so much like that of turquoise, it is occasionally referred to as “Wild Horse Turquoise,” even though it most definitely is not turquoise! Magnesite and turquoise are completely different minerals. Nevertheless, this material is becoming similarly beloved, and deservedly so - it’s much rarer, and it’s fantastically beautiful in its own right.
This is a rough, unpolished slab. Please observe images closely for flaws, as some degree of that is normal. Pictured wet and dry.
